The “Unity Industrial DX Conference 2025 – Tokyo,” held on June 11, 2025, was a conference and exhibition hosted by Unity Technologies Japan. This conference is showcasing the latest industrial use cases that leverage real-time 3D technologies cultivated through game engine development. Sony participated with its XYN™ (/zin/), presenting both a talk session and an exhibit under the theme “Proposals for Industrial DX through the Integration of Spatial Content Generation and Playback Technologies.” Through these activities, Sony shared insights into the potential applications of its cutting-edge technologies.
Talk session
“Proposals for Industrial DX through the Integration of Spatial Content Generation and Playback Technologies”
Evolving 3D Content Generation Technologies
We explained the features and advancements of 3DCG generation technologies that have been gaining attention in recent years, such as photogrammetry, NeRF, and 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS). In addition, we introduced Sony’s proprietary algorithms that enhance the precision of reflective materials and fine-detail representations.
Practical Insights Gained from In-House Applications
At the beginning of the presentation, we introduced examples from within the Sony Group, particularly in the entertainment field, highlighting the use of Virtual Production (VP). In virtual production, 3DCG data generated by capturing real-world spaces is used for the background assets projected during filming. The XYN Spatial capture solution (Prototype), developed in collaboration with Sony PCL, provides the technology to generate these background assets, and its adoption is expanding at production sites. Case study at PCL
Next, we talked about how Sony’s spatial content technology can be applied to industrial fields. We shared a real example where we used the XYN Spatial capture solution (Prototype) to capture the space inside Sony’s Inazawa Factory and turn it into 3D CG assets. Through this project, we highlighted new possibilities for industrial digital transformation using spatial content tech, including things like digital twins.
A Proposal Encompassing the Entire Workflow
We explained the complete workflow from the generation of 3DCG assets to their display, including playback technologies such as head-mounted displays and the Spatial Reality Display (SRD). We also introduced approaches for on-site implementation through integration with Unity, providing a concrete vision of the next steps in technical deployment.

~Bringing High-Precision Spatial Capture and Playback Technologies to Industrial Sites~
XYN Spatial capture solution (Prototype) will convert high-quality, photorealistic 3D CG assets from real-world objects and spaces using images captured by mirrorless cameras and proprietary algorithms. By faithfully reproducing reflective materials and fine surface details, it aims to create an environment where even users without specialized knowledge can intuitively work with 3DCG.

Glasses-Free 3D Experience with Spatial Reality Display
To help attendees envision practical uses of the generated 3DCG assets, we also provided a glasses-free stereoscopic experience using Spatial Reality Display. Participants were able to visually experience objects as if they truly existed in real space, allowing them to concretely appreciate applications in industrial settings such as design reviews and simulations.

The Potential of Spatial Content Technology Beyond Industry Boundaries
Through our talk sesison and exhibition, we were able to introduce many attendees to XYN’s initiatives that stand at the intersection of entertainment technology and industrial needs. What once required specialized skills and equipment for 3DCG production is now evolving into a more intuitive and accessible process.
The integrated technologies and expertise that support everything from content generation to display will serve as powerful assets for companies pursuing industrial digital transformation. Going forward, XYN will continue contributing to new value creation by offering solutions that combine spatial content and playback technologies.
