Sony Electronics today released an integration of syGlass scientific visualization software into its Spatial Reality Display, enabling seamless, glasses-free exploration of complex 3D volumetric datasets. This collaboration aims to enhance research, education, medical imaging and scientific content creation by blending Sony’s cutting-edge hardware with syGlass’s powerful data visualization tools.

By leveraging the Spatial Reality Display, syGlass users can now uncover critical spatial details and structural intersections that are frequently invisible on conventional 2D monitors. This glasses-free 3D interface provides the natural depth perception essential for high-stakes analysis of 3D microscopy and CT/MRI scans without the physical fatigue or isolation associated with headsets. The integration has already helped neuroscientists identify previously missed connections in dense neural mappings, effectively turning obscured data into actionable discoveries.

Bringing Immersive Data Visualization to New Frontiers

The Spatial Reality Display delivers stunning, glasses-free 3D visualization. No head-mounted gear is required and features wide-angle viewing to enjoy 3D images from varying viewing positions1. With syGlass’s software integration, scientists, educators and creators can now interact with complex volumetric datasets comfortably in a natural office, lab, or classroom environment2.

syGlass’s advanced volumetric visualization, paired with Sony’s Spatial Reality Display, unleashes powerful collaboration by allowing teams to gather around a glasses-free 3D display and explore intricate volumetric datasets in real time. This transforms experiences into dynamic, inclusive group sessions that can accelerate scientific discovery and fuel inspiration and creativity, propelling breakthrough innovation across science and technology.

“What’s great about this display is it can be used by these high-end professionals that are looking at their cutting-edge data,” said Michael Morehead, CEO of syGlass, “but we can also take that same data and bring it into a high school classroom. And so a novice … can look at this data and be awe-inspired.”
